AN AXIOME MACHINE IS HIGHLIGHTED IN STC REVIEW !

metal additive manufacturing AXIOME

Growing demand for robotic solutions

Another positive sign of the breakthrough of the metal additive manufacturing in industry is the development of robotic solutions. “The fact of fitting an additive manufacturing system to a polyarticulated robot, which is now a standard tool widely deployed in industry for other operations. It is not a special machine developed for the additive manufacturing application that can only be maintained by the company that developed the machine. Another advantage of robotisation is that it frees us from Cartesian zone in which a traditional machine works. This makes it possible to go much further in terms of work volume, particularly in height, and in configuration (6-axis robot and 2-axis positioner, for example), and therefore to produce very complex geometries, while retaining the constraints of the process (material distribution, head inclination…)”, AXIOME.

With a robotized metal additive manufacturing cell, it is also possible to integrate finishing parts applications. “While manufacturers may be interested in such a solution – the machine works two-thirds of the time for additive manufacturing and one-third of the time for finishing processes -, there are nevertheless constraints linked to finishing processes, such as the management of dust, swarf, etc. And we can also add robotic nondestructive testing (NDT)”.
